Here are the best ways to save money that will help you save thousands of dollars per year. As a matter-of-fact, the amount of money you'll be saving will be the same as getting a huge pay raise and bonus from work...

(1) Purchase no-name-brand consumer products when doing your grocery shopping, for example.... You can save yourself hundreds of dollars per year if you buy non-brand name products like toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, aluminum foil, mayonnaise, ketchup, bread, buns, cereal, granola bars, dairy products, salt & pepper, canned goods... And that just names a few!

The best part of all (depending on who the manufacture is) the quality of the non-brand name products is the same as the name brand products but for less the cost. I know from personal experience because I buy only non-brand name products and save myself hundreds of dollars per year.

This truly is one of the best ways to save money and reduce your debt.

(2) Purchase clothes during the off-season. For example, purchase winter apparel during the spring when department stores are closing out their winter inventory at deep discounts.

(3) As was previously covered in our debt management and budgeting lessons, you will save tens of thousands of dollars by paying off all your debts (credit cards, installment loans...) including your mortgage. Pay off all your debts before putting any money into any type of savings account.

(4) With the price of gasoline at $3 per gallon, you can save hundreds of dollars per year by cutting back on your driving. One example is that you can consolidate and cut back the amount of trips to the grocery store by buying your groceries in bulk. Car pool with coworkers and friends. Start using the bus. Cut back on vacation and traveling.

(5) Substantially reduce work expenditures by packing your own lunch everyday instead of eating out at fast-food restaurants. This will allow you to prepare nutritious lunches, thus improving your overall health and reducing future medical expenses.

(6) Invest in yourself. Every time you take out an installment loan, pay finance charges to a credit card company or make your monthly mortgage payment, your are empowering your creditors by helping them make billions of dollars, while rendering yourself powerless as you go deeper and deeper into debt. When you are debt free, you become powerful. You take ownership of your life as you invest in yourself and not in your creditors.

(7) Preventive Dental care. Doing routine maintenance on your teeth and gum's will not only prevent tooth decay and gum disease which leads to infections, but will also save you thousands of dollars in future dental treatment costs!

(8) Do not waste your money buying lottery tickets. Very sadly, this is what the working class do as a solution to their financial problems. Instead of trying to get lucky by playing the lottery, you need to create your own luck by putting together a financial plan.

(9) Try to use your toaster oven as well as your microwave oven as much as possible instead of a conventional stove.
